Diabetes Monthly Support Groups
Join our Diabetes support group! This is a small informal meeting with a different topic to start the conversations each month facilitated by Registered Dietitian, Lisa Wheat. Learn from others who live with diabetes in a friendly nonjudgmental environment. We meet monthly on the second Wednesday of each month from 3:00-4:00 at the Bourbon County Health Department. Diabetes Basics
Join us for a “Diabetes Basics Learning Session” with Registered Dietitian, Lisa Wheat, on November 18, 2026 from 3:00-4:00 at the Bourbon County Health Department. Adults 18 years of age and older who are newly diagnosed, those who have had diabetes for years, or those with pre-diabetes are welcome. This session is beneficial for improving diabetes self-management. “Diabetes Basics” booklets & a healthy snack will be provided. Holiday Food Tasting Class
”Holiday Food Tasting” will be held during the diabetes support group time on Wednesday, December 9, 2026 from 3:00-4:00. Recipes, food, and door prizes will be provided. All adults 18 and older with diabetes, pre-diabetes and support persons are welcome. RSVP by December 7th to Lisa Wheat, RD, LD at 859-987-1915 ext 4117 or lisar.wheat@ky.gov
Individual Diabetes Counseling
Residents insured with Anthem or Medicaid are eligible to receive counseling with our registered dietician. For those uninsured, out of pocket payment based on income is also accepted. Call 859-987-1915 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Patients should bring their insurance card and any recent blood/lab work to their first appointment.
