Diabetes Management
Diabetes Monthly Support Groups
The Bourbon County Health Department offers monthly support meetings for people with pre-diabetes or diabetes. These individuals are welcome to bring a family or support person(s) to the meetings. Each meeting is facilitated by a registered dietician with a different topic offered each month. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and learn from one another. All residents are welcome to attend and no registration is required. For more information, please contact 859-987-1915 Ext. 4117.
Holiday Food Tasting Class
A holiday cooking class is offered every November to those in the community who have pre-diabetes or diabetes. The Bourbon County Extension Office and Health Department provide cooking demonstrations and offer different foods and recipes that are diabetes friendly. Participants will also receive a recipe booklet and door prizes will be raffled. Please continue to follow our website, social media, or watch for announcement in the local newspaper.
Individual Diabetes Counseling
Residents insured with Anthem or Medicaid are eligible to receive counseling with our registered dietician. For those uninsured, out of pocket payment based on income is also accepted. Call 859-987-1915 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Patients should bring their insurance card and any recent blood/lab work to their first appointment.
