APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT–  The Bourbon County Health Department operates under the Local Health Department Merit System Regulations as administered by the Department for Public Health.  All applicants for classified positions will be reviewed and qualified by the Department for Public Health Personnel Branch.  The regulations may be viewed at http://chfs.ky.gov/dph/lhdmeritregs.htm .

Senior Support Services Associate II

General Duties include:  This position serves under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Fully aware of operating policies and procedures of the work unit.  Assemble and maintain complete patient medical records and file.  Interview patient to ensure completeness and accuracy of demographic information required for various services and programs.  Route/direct patients to appropriate staff person.  Collect, record and enter fees obtained from patients into statewide network.  Prepare routine letters, labels and other appropriate materials.  Answer multi-line phone system.  Schedule initial and follow-up patient appointments.  Review appropriate reporting sheets (Patient Encounter Forms) (PEF) of services provided to ensure completeness and accuracy.  Has gained a working knowledge and ability to perform all computer data entry.  Ability to maintain alphabetical, numerical and subject filing systems.  Operate and compute amounts using electronic equipment.  Working knowledge of reports and proper way to print and supply ordering/entry/billing. Perform billing for the HANDS program.  Request routine reports available from the PSRS, inventory and order office supplies.  Maintain auto-dialer according to agency and patient requirements.  Provide offsite clinic support when needed.  Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of professional business or public administrative experience in a medical, hospital or administrative office environment using electronic office equipment and professional software.  One (1) of the two (2) years’ experience must be in medical coding and billing, accounting, or bookkeeping. 

Substitution for Education, Training or Experience:  Additional education (college, vocational school, etc) in business education or a medically related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Starting Salary:  $10.40-$12.82/hr negotiable with additional experience.  Grade 11
